Tomasz Chróstny

President, the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection

Tomasz Chróstny is President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

He graduated in finance and accounting at the Warsaw School of Economics and in management and production engineering at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. He also completed a postgraduate course at the Institute of Enterprise at the Warsaw School of Economics. During his studies, he was awarded a scholarship in industrial and mechanical engineering at the Vitus Bering University College.

He started out professional career on projects in the field of auditing financial statements of financial institutions, company valuation and detection of crime and fraud. He was also involved in making economic, market and sector analyses as well as economic forecasts.

He worked at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, and then at the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, where he served as a director of the Department of Economic Analysis until 25 August 2019.

From August 26, 2019 to January 26, 2020, he was Vice President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

He has teaching and academic experience as he is a university teacher at the Warsaw School of Economics.
