Dr Marcel Nuys is a Partner in the Herbert Smith Freehills Düsseldorf office and leads the German Competition practice.

He advises on all aspects of European and German competition law. His practice focuses on (complex) merger control proceedings, abuse of dominance proceedings, compliance advice, cartels, and antitrust damage proceedings. Marcel advises clients in a variety of industries, including automotive, technology, media and telecommunications, transportation and logistics, consumer goods and pharmaceuticals.

Marcel has been recognised as a leading lawyer for Competition in Germany (“Top-Anwalt für Kartellrecht”) by WirtschaftsWoche. Clients praise him as “pragmatic and goal-oriented”.

Marcel regularly speaks at conferences on competition law developments and contributes to thought leadership. He is a co-editor of GTDT’s Competition in Digital Markets in the EU (here) and is a regular contributor to the HSF Notes competition blog
