Based in Brussels and Paris, Jean-Nicolas Maillard is a partner in Dentons’ Competition and Antitrust group.
Jean-Nicolas’ practice focuses on EU and French competition law, in particular cartel and other antitrust investigations. Over the last few years, he has represented companies in connection with numerous EU and French Competition Authority cases (flour, consumer electronics, rail maintenance, fresh dairy products, payment systems, freight forwarding, poultry, veterinary products) and related litigation and has been defending several follow-on litigation cases in French courts. He also works closely with suppliers on all issues connected to the distribution of their products and services in Europe. He regularly organizes, implements and manages antitrust compliance initiatives with in-house teams, including risk-mapping and comprehensive antitrust audits.
Throughout his career he has gained significant exposure to the food and beverages, retail, consumer electronics, defense and aerospace, agriculture, financial services and private equity sectors.
Jean-Nicolas is consistently recognized in Chambers Global and The Legal 500. He is described in the Legal 500 as bringing “strong technical skills to the table, but what differentiates [him] from many lawyers is that [he] [goes] the extra mile to deliver pragmatic solutions… advice is not just good technically but is insightful,” (2020).
