Saskia King

Dr. Saskia King is a partner in the Bird&Bird’s Competition & EU Law team in London with over 20 years of experience in UK and EU competition law and policy. Saskia has worked across regulators, competition authorities, academia, and private practice, specialising in regulated sectors such as payment systems, and advising widely in sport, retail, consumer, financial, technology, and communications markets.

Previously, she was a senior lawyer at the Payment Systems Regulator, leading its first competition cartel investigation, and served as legal adviser at the Competition and Markets Authority on complex antitrust investigations and mergers. She represented the UK at the OECD Competition Committee, gaining deep insight into enforcement and regulatory practices.

Saskia holds a doctorate in EU competition law from LSE, where she also taught. Her publications are widely cited, and she co-authored a chapter in Bellamy & Child. She is particularly focused on competition issues in digital markets, sport, and retail sectors.
