Iacopo Berti

Iacopo Berti is the Head of the Competition Directorate 2 (Transport, energy and environment; Manufacturing, agri-food, pharmaceutical and commercial distribution; Credit, insurance, postal services, services, tourism and sport) at the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM).

From 2015 to 2022, Berti was the Head of Department A (Primary industry, energy, transport and commerce) of the Directorate General for Consumer Protection.

From 2008 to 2014 he was the Head of the Department for Agri-food and Transport of the Directorate General for Consumer Protection.

From 2003 to 2004, he worked at the European Commission as an Expert National Detaché (END).

Berti joined the AGCM in 1992 and has since accumulated extensive experience in both competition and consumer protection. Berti’s expertise in these areas has made him a key figure in the authority’s efforts to promote fair competition and consumer welfare in Italy.

He holds a Law degree from the University of Florence and received a Master’s Degree (LLM) from the Indiana University.
