Walking tour – Campus Martius

Wednesday 24th September h. 18:15 (CET)
Sponsored by

Embark on a captivating evening tour through the most enchanting corners of ancient and baroque Rome. Starting with a comfortable bus ride from our meeting point, we’ll explore a rich blend of sacred temples, monumental columns, and iconic fountains—a journey through centuries of Roman art, religion, and architecture.

Our first stop is the sacred area of Largo Argentina, where four ancient temples built in volcanic tuff reveal the spiritual heart of the Roman Republic. Just nearby, marvel at Bernini’s whimsical Elephant and Obelisk statue, a playful masterpiece that stands guard over Piazza della Minerva.

A short walk leads us to the awe-inspiring Pantheon, the best-preserved ancient Roman temple, whose dome continues to defy architectural limits. Not far beyond, the Temple of Hadrian impresses with its striking colonnade set in a charming square.

As we wander onward, you’ll discover the Obelisk of Montecitorio, once part of the largest sundial of the ancient world, and gaze upon the majestic Column of Marcus Aurelius, carved in honor of the emperor by his son, Commodus.

The evening culminates at two of Rome’s most unforgettable landmarks: the spellbinding Trevi Fountain, symbol of baroque grandeur and fresh waters, and the regal Quirinal Hill, crowned by its soaring obelisk.

Highlights: temples of Largo Argentina, obelisk of Minerva, Pantheon, temple of Hadrian, Montecitorio, column of Marcus Aurelius, Trevi Fountain, Obelisk of the Quirinal.

Meeting point: 18:15 (CET) – Wegil – Largo Ascianghi, 5

Tour end: 20:00 (CET) – Casino dell’Aurora Pallavicini Rospigliosi – Via Ventiquattro Maggio, 43
